Competitive Art Heist Board Game

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Masterpiece is Fully Funded!
6 months ago – Sat, Sep 20, 2025 at 09:07:15 AM

We did it - Masterpiece is 100% funded! Thank you to every single backer who believed in this project. Because of you, we are bringing the ultimate art heist game to life!

Important note: Founding Donors and Patrons of the Arts, please make sure to fill out your surveys so we know what names to put in the game!

To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to give you a sneak peak of all 50 Masterpieces featured in the game. From the Mona Lisa to the Great Wave off Kanagawa, each piece is a treasure you'll get to steal and admire while you play. We've left the effects and number of protections a surprise for the future.

We're thrilled to share this moment and game with you! However, we're not done yet - every backer who joins now helps us strengthen our launch. With only a couple of days left, it's a great time to share Masterpiece with friends, family, or anyone who loves games, art, or a good heist.

Again, thank you so much for helping make Masterpiece a reality!

Just One Week Left - and Almost 90% Funded!
6 months ago – Mon, Sep 15, 2025 at 09:48:47 AM

We're in the final stretch! Thank you all for your support in getting us to almost 90% - we are so close! Please share our Kickstarter directly with friends or family that might love it, and help spread the work on socials:

The Art in Masterpiece

Our game didn't start with real-world artwork, it didn't start with art at all! However, through playtesting, we found that having concrete, recognizable art made players more motivated to steal and win it. There's such something about snatching the Scream or the Great Wave of Kanagawa that feels richer than generic treasures.

Selecting the Artwork

We began with famous works that are public-domain, such as the Mona Lisa, for our original 20 Masterpieces. When we decided to expand to 50 artworks, we wanted to include art from different identities and countries. This led us to stunning artwork like The Chess Game from Sofonisba Anguissola, one of Europe's first female artists, and Nebamun Hunting in the Marshes from Egypt.

Making it Educational

While working on Masterpiece, we played the board game Wingspan, and we loved the information and facts included for each bird. That's why we wanted every card to include the artist, the year it was created, the museum it is located in, and a short description for context. Whether you know a painting well or are encountering it for the first time, the game invites you to learn a little about the story behind each piece while you play.

We're so grateful to everyone who has brought us this far. Let's make this last week count and bring Masterpiece to life!

80% Funded and How the Game Grew
6 months ago – Tue, Sep 02, 2025 at 11:35:27 AM

Only 20% left and 3 weeks to go!

We’re excited to share that Masterpiece is 80% funded with 20 days left! Thank you so much for helping us get this far. Please help us spread the work and get to the finish line!

Behind the Game

Masterpiece began as a quick 5-minute game. Through countless playtests and iterations, it grew into its core format during the summer of 2023. From there, we kept refining. How could we make each action feel unique?  We tuned the balance to create nail-biting finales where daring last moves can succeed, but careful planning still shines.

We also focused on the game’s look and feel. What icons, colors, and text will make the game accessible, clear, and intuitive? How many cards should we include in each deck to reduce frequent shuffling?

Throughout the process we had one guiding principle: every element should make sense thematically and mechanically. That philosophy has shaped every card, rule, and design choice.

We’re so close to the finish line—let’s make the final push together and bring Masterpiece to life!

Support Local Indie Creators: Meet Moonshine, a 1920s Psychic Noir TTRPG
7 months ago – Mon, Aug 25, 2025 at 04:58:08 AM

Hi backers!

As first-time creators, we have received a lot of guidance and support from other indie game designers, and we want to show the same type of support we’ve received. One of Jordi’s Silver Spring neighbors, Ben Goldman, has a great TTRPG Kickstarter going on now!

After your museum heist, live it up in the city! Step into the Roaring Twenties with Moonshine, a thrilling tabletop RPG that combines the glamour and grit of 1920s America with a touch of the supernatural. In this world of speakeasies, jazz, and bootleggers, a select few possess extraordinary psychic abilities, making them both powerful and vulnerable in a society that is quick to dismiss or exploit the unexplainable.

Go check it out! And thanks for supporting us and indie creators!
